Aveolela/Samoa

When I was a child,

I was living in a house nearby the beach. Only a few seconds walk from my house would bring me there. I would play shops with my siblings on the beach. We would gather empty bottles or rubbish and would liken them to the products sold at shops. We used the sea shells on the beach as coins.

Palusami* was my favorite dish. I would eat it on Sunday with my family. My house wasn't as large as all the family members would have their own rooms, but I was happy with being close to my parents and siblings in the room.

My grandfather would promise me and my siblings then, ' I'll buy a good child an ice cream.' I tried to be nice and would help my mum. I knew how to get what I wanted. I still remember the taste of babana and pineapple ice cream, which my grandfather bought for me. My sweet and cold reward.
